Summary/Objective

The bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining records of financial transactions by maintaining accounts, posting transactions and performing financial calculations and general ledger duties.

Essential Functions

• Reconciles accounts, prepares computer input items, checks and balances reports, prints notices, interest, expense, and IRA checks and statements.
• Processes overdrafts, stop payments, and non-post or return items, and applies charges as necessary and maintains records.
• Assists in locating lost items by reviewing proof transit records/images to accomplish necessary correction adjustments.
• Handles telephone inquiries from customers and other bank personnel.
• Operates the scanners according to specific detailed procedures to encode, scan, endorse, image, sort and total bank transactions.
• Balances and batches work processed and researches machine tapes and documents to locate and resolve balancing, rejections, or other errors.
• Initiates changes to customer accounts and bank records for corrections.
• Develops understanding and keeps current on ACH/wire transfer rules, regulations, and software changes.
• Responsible for daily processing of customer ACH files and incoming and outgoing wire transfers.
• Produces daily reports of Fedline usage and maintains customer information.
• Follows up with customers regarding NOC’s and returned transactions.
• Prepares statements for mailing; processes mail.
• Consistently demonstrates appropriate interpersonal communication skills with customers, coworkers, and outside vendors.
• Follows all Unison Bank policies and procedures.
• Regular and reliable attendance.

Required Education and Experience

• High school degree or equivalent; 6 months to 2 years of related experience; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
