We have an opportunity for a Junior Software Engineer to join our digital teams, creating leading-edge software solutions to optimise decision-making across power generation and energy storage assets, and model future asset investment and market scenarios.

What we are looking for
As a Junior Software Engineer with our DevOps teams, you’ll write software code for our digital platform’s applications, work between teams and product owners to draw out and define technical approaches to delivering product solutions, and deliver releases and maintain a stable platform.
The ideal candidate will have some experience across both front and back-end development, but the role will offer you the opportunity to focus and build your ability in one of these sides of the stack. You’ll be responsible for:
- The development of software functionality of products across our platform through an agile setup to deliver positive outcomes for users and Uniper.
- Working between creatives (UX and design architects), domain experts (product owners and users) and developers to understand technical approaches to delivering product requirements.
- Joining hackathon and fast prototyping activities to personally develop further and contribute to product innovation.
You will also be responsible for:
- Participating in technical reviews of work and code to maintain quality and drive improvements.
- Providing technical and problem solving expertise to fix live product issues.
- Building your technology ability through experimentation, sharing knowledge and furthering the platform’s capabilities.
- Building your domain expertise and product understanding through close working with domain experts across our company.
The role is based in the UK with hybrid working and collaboration with colleagues across our European offices.
Who we are seeking
The post holder will have:
- A good computer science, mathematics/physics, engineering or related degree.
- Python programming skills.
- Experience working with development of web applications including working with web APIs.
Depending on your desire for front or back-end stack focus, the following are also desirable:
- Experience working with non-relational databases.
- Experience with microservices-based architecture.
- Experience with Javascript programming and frameworks such as React, Vue etc.
- Go and SonarQube knowledge.
- Drive to continuously learn and improve.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Tenacity and determination.
- Ability to work effectively and flexibly as a member of a team.
