Union University Hiring for Faculty Position in 3-D Art at Jackson, Tennessee Full Time

Essential Job Duties –  

• Teach undergraduate courses in all levels of collegiate 3-D foundations, Ceramics, Sculpture, and others as assigned.
• Teach practical application of skills in preparation for careers in the 3-D visual arts field.
• Design and deliver class instruction through the development of instructional plans to meet course competencies and the development of activities, which support both lesson objectives and critical thinking skills.
• Facilitate/guide the progress of students toward achievement of course and program outcomes. Plan clear course outcomes. Assess records related to the evaluation of student outcomes and course grades.
• Demonstrate a willingness to mentor undergraduate students.
• Provide supervision for the art 3-D shop technician and be responsible for all equipment, tools, and facilities.
• Participate on university committees as assigned. Participate in program planning and School/Department standing and ad hoc committees as designated by the Dean.
• Participate in professional organizations and scholarly activities. Attend professional meetings, workshops, and/or conventions.
• Assist with Pre-Registration and Registration as necessary.
• Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with full and part-time faculty, staff, and all other persons having a direct impact on the program.
• Maintain regular office hours for student accessibility.

Other Job Duties – 

• Courses and additional duties may be assigned predicated on the interests, qualifications, and experiences of the applicant as well as on departmental needs.
• The appropriate applicant will also have the opportunity to shape the 3-D programs to fit changing criteria in the field.

Required Qualifications – 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master of Fine Arts degree in 3-D and at least two years of experience in traditional 3-D areas of ceramics and/or sculpture. This position also requires a demonstrated mastery in firing all kilns including electric, gas, raku, primitive, and wood kilns. Preference will be given to applicants with a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics or Sculpture.
