Summary

The Vice President, Logistics will to UniGroup’s Chief Operating Officer and serve in a key role within the company’s leadership team. The VP works across the Logistics team, other members of senior leadership, UniGroup members and Board Directors, as well as external partners, to provide overall leadership to the business unit. While setting the overall strategy to deliver against objectives, the leader will define systems and processes to enable performance, driving change through continuous improvement. In addition, the leader will evaluate the existing Logistics business model to define and deliver business development strategies that will bring volume into our system resulting in growth. The leader will provide functional guidance and support to the Logistics leadership team of operational managers and directors. The VP will work with the UniGroup Board of Directors to ensure enterprise alignment on the direction of the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver strong leadership and direction to the Logistics team, and significant collaboration and influence on functional areas that are enablers to Logistics organizational success
• Serve in leadership role with UniGroup Board committee to align strategy and objectives within operational and commercial components of Logistics
• Build strong relationships with partners, suppliers and prospective business partners that will help drive revenue and margin growth
• Interact and communicate with a broad range of business and functional groups to identify and implement opportunities for improvement
• Oversee the design and implementation of metrics, tracking and ing systems
• Develop processes and methodologies that deliver competitive levels of customer satisfaction and superior business financial performance
• Evaluate and deliver against growth objectives including the development of new business opportunities to leverage our Logistics model and capacity
• Assess competency of the organization and oversee plans to optimize performance
• Lead, retain and develop talent capabilities for today and for the future; build strong leadership team
• Effectively communicate on Logistics business progress and strategy to the rest of the senior leadership team and the Board of Directors
• Prepare budgets, lead daily business performance, deliver budgeted financial commitments
• Serve as member of the Senior Leadership Team, wearing both the Logistics and UniGroup hats to serve best interests of our cooperative
• Ensure compliance with UniGroup policies and Federal/State regulations

Education, License or Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant business experience

Experience:

• Ten or more years of transportation experience, preferably within specialty logistics, with at least six years in a senior leadership role
• Proven experiences in operational leadership as well as business development or another commercial area of the business
• Experience in transformation, business development, organizational change or private equity helpful
• Significant collaboration experience with demonstrated ability to work with others and meet shared objectives, even in times of conflicting perspectives, required
• Demonstrated track record of business improvement and innovation while ensuring delivery and execution of day-to-day business
• Proven ability to develop creative logistics strategies, models and processes that reduce costs and optimize service in the short, medium and long term
