This position is designated as ‘mandatory’ and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the campus as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Program Development and Education Manager position fills multiple key vacant roles and combines them to streamline functions. Work closely with the leadership team to facilitate effective strategic actions to deliver a service the customer can trust. Participate in a cleaning and recycling task force on campus-wide efficiency and effectiveness. Manages 3M Clean Trace program, matting program, inventory control, data audits, cleaning audits, training audits, vehicle audits, equipment audits, kitting audits, and skilled assessments. Develops, coordinates, and manages elements of the following; reports on metrics such as cost per square foot and square foot per custodian. Compare metrics with peer institutions and work with BES&R administrative team, supervision, and management to ensure understanding of metrics and look for and implement efficiency and effectiveness measures.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from a four year college or university and at least three years of program associate experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Essential Job Duties
Coordination of program development, training, education, work loading, and scheduling of cleaning and recycling activities within the Facilities Management’s Building Environmental Services and Recycling work unit.
Workload and schedule effective job assignments for over 120 cleaning and recycling workers. Develop and report on metrics such as cost per square foot and square foot per custodian.
Compare metrics with peer institutions and work with BES&R administrative team, supervision, and management to ensure an understanding of metrics.

Other Work Responsibilities
Research, find, and implement cleaning and recycling efficiency and effectiveness measures (industry best practices).
Develop campus-wide relationships to assure the success of the program and its goals. Work closely with the unit director to facilitate effective strategic actions to deliver world-class customer service.
Participate in a cleaning and recycling task force on campus-wide efficiency and effectiveness.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Ability to effectively understand, read, write and communicate the English language.
Effective skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures.
Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork with coworkers and visitors, between day and night shift employees in Building Environmental Services and other departments both within Facilities Management and throughout the entire campus community.
The selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Computer literate, proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and willing to learn new programs.
Necessary Licenses or Certifications
The Environmental Specialist operates assigned vehicles on and/or off campus and must therefore possess, maintain, or obtain a valid driver’s license upon appointment to the position.
