As a member of Ultra’s Sonar Software development team, you will be participating in the full software engineering lifecycle of Ultra’s exciting Sonar Projects, including: Hobart Class Destroyer Integrated Sonar System and Integrated Sonar Trainer; Hunter Class Frigate Bow Sonar and Surface Ship Torpedo Defence System; Expendable and Towed Torpedo Countermeasures; and Integrated Undersea Battlespace.
You will engage in new and evolving technologies while collaborating with Ultra’s global network such as Ultra UK and Ultra Canada, providing opportunity for travel and training in order to transfer the necessary software skills, information and technology to enhance Ultra Australia’s Industry capability.

Experience/Knowledge:
Core technical skills:
- Competency in at least one procedural language (C, C++, Java).
- Object Orientated analysis and design.
- Comfortable with development under Linux & Windows.
- Basic networking principles.
- Appreciation of software configuration management practices.
- Familiar with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
- An appreciation of the design, development and integration of complex multi-threaded real time software.
- Sound technical reporting with a good eye for detail.
Highly desirable skills:
- Exposure to digital signal processing algorithms and techniques.
- Experience using a Version Control Systems (VCS), preferably Git.
- OpenCL/CUDA.
- Matlab (or equivalent).
- System configuration management software eg. Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Software, Electronic or Engineering; Computer Science (or equivalent).
