HR Senior Business and Project Manager
Salary: £39,748 per annum (dependent on skills and experience).
Hours: Full time or Part time (minimum 0.8 FTE)
Contract Type: Open Ended.
Location: Polaris House, Swindon, Wiltshire (Hybrid working options available).
Key Accountabilities:
Work together with HR colleagues to ensure that ‘One HR’ culture is role modelled and ensure that HR initiatives and proposed changes are prioritised, appropriate, well planned and well delivered with proportionate use of applicable project management frameworks.
Play a key role in translating the HR People Plan into a programme of work with programme level documentation and reporting to support decision making associated with the HR Portfolio Plan.
Corporate Responsibilities:
Demonstrating and modelling personal commitment to UKRI’s vision, values and strategic objectives, promoting UKRI’s achievements at every opportunity and in appropriate arenas.
On occasions representing UKRI HR on cross-Council and government department groups and other external groups and chairing or contributing to internal HR Groups as required.
Working in close collaboration and maintaining highly productive relationships with key staff.
Role Responsibilities
Project Management
Support the Lead for HR Business and Project Management to develop a HR project management capability / PMO and establish a governance framework, aligned with the corporate approach, to enable the effective management, reporting and delivery of projects. Ensuring the maximum business impact for the investment made.
Manage the HR Portfolio Plan and provide reports, analysis and modelling to maintain accurate progress reporting, providing assurance to the HR SLT.
Provide project and programme management support to the larger and more complex HR projects being delivered in HR, supporting project leads in putting together Project Initiation Documents, facilitating scoping, and planning workshops and advising on risk management to improve the quality of programme and project management in HR.
Benefits Realisation – Ensure benefits are identified, understood, measured, tracked, and owned. Ensure appropriate Benefits Realisation Strategy is in place and monitor longer term delivery of benefits against the HR Portfolio Plan.
Stakeholder Management – Identify key stakeholders and develop effective relationships.
Provide coaching, support and local training initiatives on Project and Programme Management disciplines to support all those involved in HR projects.
Monitor and make recommendations on the allocation of project resources, particularly within resourcing and operations teams.
Business Management
Act as point of contact for the UKRI Project Delivery and Improvement function and the Reforming Our Business Portfolio Office to ensure that HR meets reporting and governance requirements.
Work with the HR Senior Business and Assurance Manager to track delivery of projects within budget.
Manage the storage of HR internal information to maintain access to required records.
Support the EA team with planning and delivery of internal HR staff events.
Maintain HR’s risk register in accordance with internal protocols.
Key Attributes – Person Requirements
Qualifications:
Essential
Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience in a professional environment.
Project Management Qualification such as Agile Foundation, PRINCE2 Foundation, APM Project Management, or transferable skillset.
Knowledge and Experience
Experience of working in a project environment with the ability to demonstrate evidence of successful project delivery.
Ability to manage change in complex environments.
Ability to capture, analyse and present complex information both orally and in writing to diverse, non-project audiences.
Proficient user of MS office Suite, including MS Project and MS Visio.
Personal Skills and Qualities
Excellent planning, prioritisation, and organisation skills with experience of managing resources.
Capable of engaging, motivating, and coaching others.
The ability to build productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and use these relationships to influence, change and impact decisions.
