Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Clinical

The education fellow will work with 5 clinical research fellows (CRF) in Acute Medicine with supervision by an Acute Medicine Consultant and as part of the Acute Medicine multidisciplinary team in all clinical areas. The clinical rota follows a rolling 6-week pattern which includes 3 weeks in Acute Medicine (with OOH enhancements) and 3 weeks in Medical Education.

Education

Developing and supporting the AMU local teaching programme and engaging in all aspects of postgraduate education within Acute Medicine

Developing as a simulation facilitator and attending regular IMT simulation training days as faculty.

Developing model of clinic exposure as mandated by the IMT curriculum

Education/Qualifications/ Training

Essential criteria
  • Medical Degree
  • Completion of Core Medical Training or equivalent
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Full GMC registration
Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate Qualification in Teaching/Medical Edu-cation

Skills/Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • Ability to teach and facilitate in a multiprofessional set-ting
  • Interest in developing skills in medical education
  • Ability to assess acutely ill patients

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Involvement in medical education
  • Experience of teaching formally and informally
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of innovation in the development and deliv-ery of teaching/educational initiatives
  • Experience of simulation

  • Ability to multi-task effectively on a number of projects simultaneously
