This position manages Twilight Park Day Camp, a non-profit traditional childrens day camp located in a historic private community in Haines Falls, NY in the beautiful northern Catskill mountains. The Camp is primarily out doors and has a craft and playroom and access to large playing fields, swimming pools, tennis courts and indoor club houses. The programs include pre-K camp, regular day camp, Leaders in Training and Counselors in Training for ages 3 to 14. We are surrounded by beautiful mountains and are connected to many hiking trails. The Camp serves up to 80 campers per week and employs a staff of 30. The camp has a strong nature focus and has traditional day camp activities including swim and tennis lessons, crafts, field games, yoga gaga, archery, kayaking, field trips, hiking and overnight camping
The mission of Twilight Park Day Camp is to educate and build character, love of nature and community by providing safe, nurturing, and learning youth programs & summer camps.
Requirements
The Camp Director position reports to the Camp Board President and provides overall management of the Twilight Park Day Camp including the development and maintenance of related budgets, policies/ procedures, resources, staff hiring / development, program development, scheduling and routine communications . The Camp Director works closely and provides routine communications to the camp parents and the Twilight Park Camp Board. The Camp Director assures the camp’s compliance with NYS Children’s Camps regulations and a variety of camp best practices.
The Camp Director is full time from late June thru mid August and is required to live on site or close by during the season. Off season the position is parttime (from their home) and requires an average of 10-15 hours per month. The Director hires and supervises the seasonal staff including the Program Director, Aquatic Director, Camp Administrator, Assistant Health Director and a variety of Instructors and Counselors.
