Tweed Shire Council Hiring for Senior Accountants Job at Murwillumbah Full Time

Our Financial Services Unit is undergoing change and transformation, this has resulted in the team seeking 2 qualified and experienced Senior Accountants who have a keen eye for process improvement, are able to communicate effectively with multiple levels of the business, and have experience in leading and supervising a team.

These roles will provide quality accounting advice and services to management and staff across the organisation.

About the roles:

Assets & Financial Reporting

• Responsible for planning, directing and completion of the end of year statutory financial reports of Council
• Administer and co-ordinate the financial general fund asset registers for transport (roads, bridges, footpaths/cycle ways, car parks, street furniture, curb and gutter), storm water drainage and buildings asset types.
• Develop, coordinate and administer Council’s Technology One Core Enterprise Suite
• Administer and co-ordinate implementation and upgrades of asset management/work systems (MyData and Technology One EAM)
• Develop and implement systems and policies to ensure the proper discharge of statutory and accounting responsibilities.

Treasury

• Monitor and control Council’s cash flow and Investment Portfolio within the requirements of the Local Government Act and Regulations, Council Policies and Procedures
• Supervision of Payroll and Accounts Payable functions of Council
• Provide specialist financial advice to Council Officers regarding Loans, Section 7.11 Developer Contributions; Fees and Charges; Banking Services; Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the Financial Services Units enterprise risk management.

We are seeking:

• Degree qualifications in Business, Accounting or Commerce
• Substantial experience in Senior Accounting/Finance position
• High level knowledge of the principles and practices of business and corporate performance reporting
• Competence in the administration of financial management information systems, Technology One Financials, Assetic, MyData or similar financial software.

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
