We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Behavioral Health Billing Specialist to join our dynamic team. This position plays a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely billing procedures, maximizing reimbursements, and maintaining strong relationships with commercial insurance providers.
Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health Billing Specialist will be responsible for managing all aspects of the billing process for our behavioral health services. This includes accurately assigning appropriate CPT codes, submitting claims to insurance companies, negotiating reimbursement rates, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with all billing regulations and guidelines.
Responsibilities:
CPT Code Management:
Accurately assign appropriate Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes for all behavioral health services rendered.
Stay updated on coding changes and industry guidelines to ensure proper coding practices.
Claims Submission:
Prepare and submit claims to commercial insurance companies.
Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility before processing claims.
Negotiating Reimbursement Rates:
Collaborate with insurance companies to negotiate favorable reimbursement rates for behavioral health services.
Advocate for fair and reasonable payment terms and ensure maximum reimbursement for provided services.
Insurance Verification:
Verify insurance coverage and benefits for patients to determine appropriate billing procedures. Work closely with the intake team to obtain all necessary insurance information from patients.
Claims Management:
Monitor and track claims to ensure they are processed in a timely manner.
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and address any issues causing delays.
Discrepancy Resolution:
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in billing and claims processes, working closely with insurance companies and internal stakeholders.
Respond to and resolve inquiries related to billing from patients and insurance providers.
Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure compliance with all relevant billing and coding regulations, including HIPAA and other industry standards.
Maintain accurate and organized billing records, including documentation of claim submissions and payment details.

Assist in financial ing related to billing and revenue cycle management.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with the finance team, behavioral health providers, and administrative staff to streamline billing processes and address any billing-related challenges.
