Purpose of Job

Accurate and timely calculation and transfer of information from production sources into MBS. Distribution of information. Responsible for several units within the Lake Charles complex. Interacts with Unit Managers, Financial Manager, Cost Accounting Supervisors, Cost Accountants, and other Accounting personnel. Effective communication with key interfaces. Assists with accurate and timely completion of budget and forecast information on the financial system. Manages master data end ensuring integrity of financial data. Monthly reconciliations of balances in the financial system.

Key Accountabilities

• Responsible for documenting and updating accounting policies and procedures and ensure compliance to it; analyze processes and procedures to help improve operating efficiencies. Responsible for professional accounting work in accordance with prescribed accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS).
• Gather data related to daily tank and meter readings from Production (PIMS, LIMS and DCS); this comprises tank levels, meter readings, morning reports, load reports, production reports and transfer reports.
• Update daily spreadsheet, perform conversion calculations and validations. Input data into the Material Balancing System (MBS) and validate existing data. Close MBS
• Analyze MBS results and reconcile with daily spreadsheets.
• Perform the following SAP inputs: Backflush, enter main-products, by-products and consumption of raw materials utilizing the Stock Balance Report and Transaction Detail report from MBS.
• Reconcile the stock balance reports and IPA’s. Balance SAP and MBS.
• Effectively plan, co-ordinate and interact with customers to ensure successful execution of month end closure on SAP system for production accounting. Effective manage Internal and external relationships.
• Reports on production, inventory levels and performs ratio analysis for several units
• Execute/review production, cost estimates and product Inventory accounting calculations.
• Govern master data and manage maintenance of master data to ensuring integrity of financial data.
• Provide input to Financial Planning for Production Accounting feeding into the budget and forecast process, ensuring complete, accurate and timely results are delivered
• Ensure general ledger reconciliations are done timeous and accurately.
• Maintain and ensure ongoing sound and effective Internal Control environment (including maintaining SOX processes, risk, controls, tests, and SOX certifications)
• Ensure compliance to relevant laws and regulations

Job Requirements

• Must have a Bachelors in Accounting or related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of direct accounting experience; production cost accounting preferred
• 5 to 10 years minimum accounting experience in manufacturing industry using process costing.
• Knowledgeable of principles and practices for financial system closure and master data maintenance taking into account IFRS and US GAAP principles.
• Ability to perform preliminary reviews and verify reasonableness of data at point of entry.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills when interacting with all level of employees/customers and ability to adapt to a changing work environment
• Strong knowledge of accounting systems, SAP (Preferred), Adaptive, Power BI, MBS, LIMS, PIMS and complex Excel spreadsheets (Advanced Excel skills (Preferred)

Pay: $45.00 – $55.00 per hour
