Trinity College Cambridge are looking to recruit a knowledgeable IT professional, who has experience of managing a variety of IT infrastructure systems. One of the most renowned and respected university Colleges, it has more Nobel Laureates than any other Oxbridge institution. Notable Alumni include Sir Isaac Newton and Charles Babbage. Trinity is now home to around 1100 students and over 190 academics (Fellows) who are supported by over 350 staff. Technology plays a pivotal role in enabling the College to deliver its core research and administrative activities.
Reporting to the Head of IT, The Senior IT Infrastructure Officer will work directly alongside a colleague but as part of a larger 9-person IT department. The role holder will maintain and continually improve the College’s IT infrastructure platforms and systems and deliver an efficient and proactive service to Fellows, staff and students.
As well as providing input and support to the College’s IT strategy, the successful candidate will undertake a major role in IT infrastructure projects concerning networks, servers, storage, and security. This position demands the ability to work in liaison with people of all levels, with a strong ‘customer service’ focus. You must therefore have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have worked successfully as part of a team.
Applicants must be proficient in supporting a number of areas, these include; Microsoft software including Windows Server, Active Directory, and MS SQL, IT Infrastructure including but not limited to VMware, Switching (Aruba), routers, firewalls, servers, SANs, NAS, alongside having a career with history of supporting IT users.
Ideally, applicants will be educated to degree level and must be able to demonstrate experience of managing relevant IT infrastructure. Experience of managing Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Azure, Linux (Ubuntu), Aruba networking, including ClearPass will be particularly advantageous. Applicants should have a great eye for detail and be enthusiastic about working for a prestigious organisation.
