About the Role

As finance assistant you are responsible for the effective and timely processing of day-to-day finance tasks whilst adhering to high standards of process control. Your focus will be on processing accurate transactions with a focus on partner payments, ensuring data is captured correctly and being a first point of contact for internal and external finance enquiries, however this is no ordinary finance job. The business moves quickly and you will find yourself getting involved in a wide variety of tasks including both financial and non-financial, problem solving and process improvement. Your accounting studies will complement the growth in the company with opportunities to contribute to the successful development of both your career and the scale-up of the business.

Your Challenges & Opportunities

• Working as a member of the finance team to cover all operational finance processes and regular tasks, taking ownership of partner and customer payment processes
• Contribute significantly to the integration of the UK and German based finance teams into one efficient team
• Ensure data is recorded accurately and timely into our financial systems and is shared with our external bookkeepers in order to meet month-end deadlines
• Record and monitor purchase ledger transactions ensuring all suppliers are paid within agreed terms.
• Process International payments to our local tour-operators (LTO) world-wide with agreed terms.
• Monitor, forward and respond to emails received to the finance inbox
• Evaluate and suggest opportunities for process efficiencies and savings
• Complete ad-hoc reporting and tasks both financial and non-financial as required by the business
• Provide holiday cover in the team as required
• Provide the stable foundation for trip.me and TravelLocal to combine and confidently grow to meet their ambitious objectives
• Be part of an international team and speak fluent English with good German language skills being advantageous but not essential

What you offer

• Previous office experience preferred
• Passion for pursuing a career in finance required and are able to demonstrate this
• Previous finance experience advantageous for candidates looking to study
• Previous Finance experience required for candidates not looking to study
• Numerically competent
• IT literate with Microsoft office and/or Google workspace skills (particularly Excel/Google sheets)
• Previous experience with using Xero advantageous
• Flexible approach to work with a can-do attitude, willingness to help out with non-finance related tasks as and when required
• Proactive problem solver
• Able to work independently but awareness of when to seek assistance
• Fluent in a foreign language advantageous (especially if German)
