Commercial Finance Analyst

Job Overview:

The Global Centre of Rail Excellence (‘GCRE’) is a special purpose vehicle being established by the Welsh Government in partnership with Powys County Council and Neath and Port Talbot County Borough Council. UK Government, via BEIS, are also making a substantial financial contribution.

The GCRE Company will be responsible for attracting private funding (as well as further public funding) and implementing ambitious plans to build a one-off rail test and innovation environment in South Wales’s industrial heartland.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Primary responsibilities will include:

• Create an effective excel pricing model that can be used to develop GCRE’s pricing strategy.
• Support the CCO in the appraising of new commercial opportunities, as well as providing key analytics/KPIs for inclusion into commercial contracts with customers.
• Help maintain the contract list price for all business lines.
• Support the CFO in evaluation of the operating cost base associated with GCRE’s commercial activities; with ultimate creation of ‘profit centres’ for each of the core business lines.
• Assisting in the production of the Annual Business Plan and monthly/quarterly forecasting.
• Production of monthly management information providing valuable insights into contracted sales, revenue, gross profits, operating costs, including trends and future risks / opportunities.
• Complete ad hoc analysis as required by the senior management team to assist in effective decision-making.

The duties and responsibilities in this job description are not exhaustive. The post holder may be required to undertake other duties that may be required from time to time within the general scope of the post. This role description should develop along with the changing demands of GCRE company objectives and priorities.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will be an ACA or ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant with demonstrable record of delivery in a finance role with exposure to FP&A, commercial finance and corporate accounting.

• Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to build relationships effectively and the emotional intelligence to plan and manage your workload efficiently within an extremely fast-paced and exciting environment
• Experience with information systems and related tools for staging and deploying information
• Advanced MS Office skills (particularly Excel)
• Ability to draw insights from complex data and provide meaningful analysis and commentary

The Role

The role is offered on a permanent basis, 37 hours per week.

The successful candidate must hold a full UK Driving License and be prepared and able to attend site at short notice (when required).

• Helpu i gynnal pris rhestr y contract ar gyfer pob llinell fusnes.
• Cefnogi’r Prif Swyddog Cyllid i werthuso’r sylfaen costau gweithredu sy’n gysylltiedig â gweithgareddau masnachol y Ganolfan Ragoriaeth; drwy greu ‘canolfannau gwneud elw’ yn y pen draw ar gyfer pob un o’r llinellau busnes craidd.
• Cynorthwyo i gynhyrchu’r Cynllun Busnes Blynyddol a rhagolygon misol/chwarterol.
