Accountabilities include: -Provide specialist GIS&T, cartographic and spatial information advice to clients and management relating to the delivery of transport infrastructure and provide input to the strategic direction GIS&T in the department. -Acquire, process, interpret, present, maintain and validate geospatial information and databases. -Assemble, analyse, interpret, and report on spatial data from appropriate systems, providing information through high quality mapping products or reports as required by the client. -Manage and maintain effective liaison and communication with internal and external stakeholders on all matters relating to GIS&T projects. -Ensure operational practices and standards of service and performance comply with departmental and regional policies, legislation (incl. WH&S), TMR standards and governance obligations-Operate departmental Geographic Information System (GIS) software and support departmental users of GIS technology.-Provide specialist mapping and GIS&T services.-Configure and customise desktopand web-based spatial systems to meet stakeholder requirements.-Assist with survey or spatial related activities when required-Deliver geospatial projects, products and services (group training) to meet departmental requirements.-Develop a sound knowledge of departmental policies and procedures-Represent the region, as required, at meetings and forums dealing with spatial science related matters.-Enhance knowledge of and support departmental users of GIS technology.

This position reports to the Principal Surveyor and has no direct reports.

Mandatory requirements: -Minimum of a 3 year degree Spatial Science from a recognised tertiary institution, or qualifications which in the opinion of the Director General, under advice of the Head of Discipline, are equivalent. -Current holder of a ‘C’ class driver’s licence. -It is a condition of employment for recommended appointee/s to disclose any previous serious discipline action taken against them for consideration by the delegate prior to any appointment. Desirable requirements: -Professional certification (General or Specialist (GISP-AP) with the Surveying and Spatial Science Institute (SSSI).
