This opportunity

The role of Assistant Accountant include day to day business support, month-end tasks, and process improvement. Key purpose is to work with the business involving AR and AP tasks, monthly BAS preparation, assist in the month end close, and perform actions to clear items, assist with audit requirements and process improvements. It is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

Responsibilities

• Day to day business support involving AR and AP activities such as raising PO’s and doing reconciliations on vendor spend
• Month end activities including bank reconciliations and posting of various journals to assist in preparing the financial statements for the month
• Support the analysis and reporting of monthly financial performance in relation to revenue recognition for the month and explaining the underlying drivers
• Work with the Finance manager in documenting revenue and other financial control processes to facilitate migration from the current GL system to Oracle
• Assist with preparation of monthly BAS
• Assist with external audit and other adhoc requests.

Knowledge and experience

• Understanding of accounting concepts and standards such as IFRS 15 with prior experience in month end close activities and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ability to be a self-starter and willingness to take ownership of an area.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Team player.
• Initiative and integrity.
• Ability to adapt to change.
• Interpersonal skills.
• CPA/CA or equivalent qualified preferred.
