Toyota Research Institute Hiring for Software Developer, Robotics Job at Cambridge, MA Full Time

HireArt is helping Toyota Research Institute hire a Software Developer, Robotics. The main task of the contractor will be to support the software development of robotic arm simulations of tactile-rich tasks in Drake (https://drake.mit.edu). For example, create a simulation of peg and hole, box pushing, etc.

• Experience with a physics simulation engine for robotics (e.g. Drake, Gazebo, Pybullet, Mujocu)
• Fundamental understanding of robot control and planning algorithms (e.g. diffIK, inverse dynamics controller, trajectory optimization) as demonstrated in a class project or similar
• Experience with deploying plans or learned policies on 6+ degree of freedom robot arms (e.g., Jaco Kinova, Franka Emika Panda, Kuka Iiwa)
• Strong software engineering skills, preferably in C++ and Python, and in analysis and debugging of autonomous robotic systems and sensors
• Follow software practices that produce maintainable code, including automated testing, continuous integration, code style conformity, and code review
• Strong communication skills and team mindset

Bonus knowledge:

• Familiarity with reinforcement learning
• Familiarity with simulation of sensor systems

Commitment: This is a full-time, 4-month contract position staffed via HireArt. This will be a hybrid/remote position requiring 1-2 trips to Cambridge, MA. Candidates local to Cambridge, MA are strongly preferred but not required.
