The Township of Langley is recruiting for a regular part-time Recreation Cashier to join our team of professionals in the Recreation division. Reporting to the Manager, Administration and Business Services and the Business Services Supervisor, in this unionized position you will undertake a variety of clerical tasks and answer a variety of general enquiries regarding activities and services within the community.
Responsibilities:
Process registration and payment for admissions, recreation programs and facility bookings
Perform routine clerical tasks including, operating a point of sale system, recording and reconciling payments
Provide excellent customer service and assistance to the public and visitors
Provide factual information to the public regarding program activities and registration by telephone and in-person
Maintain routine records and statistics as it relates to the work performed
Perform related work as required
Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 11, and preferably some cashiering experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Working knowledge of various recreation program activities and registration
Ability to perform cashiering duties efficiently and accurately
Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with internal/external contacts and the public under varying conditions
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred
This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a Police Information Check as a condition of employment (Note – not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $22.09 – $25.82 per hour (2020 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work are Wednesday 8:30am – 4:30pm; Thursday 1:15pm – 9:15pm; Saturday 12:00pm – 8:15pm; Sunday 10:00am – 6:00pm; Non-standard hours and/or non-standard work week.
