EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The position performs a wide variety of advanced and specialized duties related to supervising, planning, construction, maintenance, repair of the water systems and overseeing blue-staking of the Town’s water, wastewater, and reclaimed water systems. Oversees meter reading activities and all meter testing and replacement programs. Provides technical guidance, assigns, and monitors work, sets work schedules, and assists staff with complicated and difficult assignments. Assists in preparing and implementing the Capital and Operating budgets, maintain records and s, review, and track expenditures. Oversees staff training, recommend new technologies and work methods to continuously improve operations and system efficiencies. Works closely with other divisions, departments, outside public and private agencies, and the general public.SUPERVISION – RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERSSupervise and coordinate assigned operators and technicians. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Town policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, resolving problems, and planning, assigning, and directing work. Provide oversight for the activities of skilled and semi-skilled workers in the in the planning, inspection, maintenance and repair of the Towns water and wastewater systems.Coordinate and monitor contractors work and performance.Communicate with supervisors and clients as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING OR EXPERIENCEMust possess upon hire a Grade 3 operator certification from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) in the discipline of Water Distribution. Ability to obtain and maintain a Grade 4 certification in Water Distribution within one year of hire.Within one year of hire, obtain an ADEQ Grade 1 operator certification in Wastewater Collections7 or more years of distribution experience, with at least 1 year as a supervisor desired. An unrestricted Arizona Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Tanker endorsement. A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
