An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Youth Justice and Young People’s Service as the Virtual Schools Officer based in the Tower Hamlets and the City Youth Justice Service.
Working in a busy, multi-agency team, you will be focused on supporting children and young people involved in the Criminal Justice System to reach their full potential, identifying their strengths and working in partnership to find appropriate education, training and support offers that suit their needs.
This post works across the Youth Justice Service (3 days per week) and the Virtual School for Looked After Children (2 days per week) and has a joint reporting line for casework oversight. The role is to have strategic oversight of the education of all children known to the Youth Justice and Young People’s Service. Where children are in care, the officer will also be the allocated Virtual School Teacher for the child or support the one already in place. Should there be capacity, the post holder will support cases not known to the Youth Justice Service during the 2 days a week Virtual School commitment. This post is supported by the Virtual School Headteacher and the Deputy Head of Service for Youth Justice.
If you wish to find out more about this role, please book a Teams Meeting with David Cregan on [email protected]

Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.
Tower Hamlets has a zero-tolerance approach to, and works to eradicate, all forms of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, status as a civil partner, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and maternity and looks to employ a diverse workforce representative of those groups. We recognise that people can also be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class.
We welcome applicants interested in flexible working arrangements and also applicants who live in the borough.
