POSITION: AUTOMATION / CONTROLS ENGINEER

DEPT: ENGINEERING

Responsibility:

Automation / Controls Engineer for Industrial Elevators. We design, manufacture, and install Rack and Pinion drive industrial elevators and their control systems. Our products are installed in power plants, bridges, factories, government, and other industrial settings. We are currently using Siemens TIA Portal V16 with safety PLC and seeking an engineer with matching experience.

Must possess:

• Industrial Automated Machine Design Background (personnel moving equipment preferred)
• Working knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
• Leadership and Good decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently and with a team
• Project Management Experience
• Documentation and Tracking of Project Requirements
• Experience with Safety and Quality Control Systems
• Working knowledge of production process management
• Working knowledge of automated control system
• Working knowledge of VFD’s (Variable Frequency Drives)
• Siemens TIA Portal PLC Industrial Controls programming
• Circuit design and troubleshooting
• AutoCAD Electrical Controls Design
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical industrial systems
• Knowledge of Hazardous location electrical area protocol
• Knowledge of UL Industrial Control System Inspection and Certification
• Knowledge of NEC Compliance
• Knowledge of OSHA Safety Protocols
• Knowledge of elevator Safety Code ASME A17.1 and A17.5

Direct Tasks:

• Represent TESI interests in project meetings with the TESI team, customers, and vendors
• Work closely with the project team on the system design and production
• Coordinate between engineering and production for workflow
• Work with office administration staff to track project cost accounting
• Coordinate with vendors on custom-designed parts and OEM components. Find and qualify new vendors as needed
• Creation of job data sheets based on contract requirement specifications
• Confirm project design compliance with elevator and building codes (or other applicable safety codes)
• Track and schedule all contract deliverables
• Interface with 3rd party consulting engineers as required for rack and gear design, structural design review, etc.
• Check the engineering of components to confirm compatibility with design
• Assist with project documentation and assemble final data packages for transmittal to the customer (electronic and hard copies required)
• Assist with customizing operation manuals for unique job requirements
• Design and publish operation instruction signage, data tags, etc.
• Elevator Control System Design
• Management of 3rd-Party Control Build
• Source and assist with procurement of control system parts
• Oversee and participate in elevator machine assembly and testing in production facility
• Provide customer support/troubleshooting of elevator control system issues
• Support the field installation crew for the start-up/commissioning of new elevator systems
• Track and schedule all contract deliverables as related to elevator controls on current projects
• Confirm project design compliance with elevator and building codes (or other applicable safety codes)
• Interface with 3rd party consulting engineers as required
• Create electrical circuit design CAD drawings
• Coordinate with production regarding build schedules
• Maintain project controls Bill of Materials (BOM)
• Work with office administrator to track project cost accounting as related to controls
• Work closely with the project designers for control systems integration on custom machines
• Coordinate between engineering and production for work flow and inventory management
• Coordinate with vendors on custom designed/configured components
• Assist with the publication of operation manuals for unique job requirements as related to controls
• Document all Relevant Communication and Project Activity on the File Server
• Other as applicable

Job Requirements:

The candidate must have least 5 years of experience, a 4-year Electrical Engineering Degree (EE), or equivalent experience. Must have PLC and HMI programming experience, a high degree of computer applications aptitude. English communication and comprehension of written material. Ability to work with a team on multiple projects, supervised and independently, to meet schedules accurately and in detail. Pass a national background check and sign an NDA upon employment.

Pay: $85,000.00 – $105,000.00 per year
