TMSU Elections 2023/2024

Toronto Metropolitan Students’ Union elections will be held on April 11,12,13, 2023. As a member of the Toronto Metropolitan Students’ Union (TMSU), any full-time undergraduate student at Toronto Metropolitan University have an opportunity to be part of the democratic election process. The TMSU is seeking poll clerks to staff the poll stations located at designated areas around campus.

Positions Available: Thirty (30)
Start Date: April 11, 2023
End Date: April 14, 2023
Compensation: $17.00 per hour
Hours per Week: 9 hours shifts (3 days)

Contract: Contract – Temporary

Posting Date: March 30, 2023

Closing Date: April 3, 2023

Role and Responsibilities:

• Attend a mandatory training session where Election staff will inform Poll Clerks about the Elections Procedures Code and rules/regulations on students casting ballots
• show up for designated shifts as assigned
• Uphold confidentiality and ensure impartiality at all times
• Never give information or your opinion about the elections or candidates to any TMU student
• Set up polling stations and take down of polling station
• Explain the voting process to the voter
• Assist voters in any phase of the voting process and abide by rules established for the election
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Chief Returning Officer and Deputy Returning Officer
• Assist with ballot counting if required.
• Assist with transporting filled ballot boxes if directed

Requirements:

• Applicants can not currently be enrolled at Toronto Metropolitan University
• Applicants cannot be a candidate for the current election
• Applicants cannot campaign for a candidate for the duration of the election
• Candidates must remain neutral at all times
