Job Description
TBC is seeking to hire a Student Success Officer to contribute to the department’s expansion. The successful candidate will bring experience along with an eagerness to explore new strategies; be positive, student centered, and dedicated; possess a high degree of integrity; collaborate well with a passionate team; be passionate about education and international student success.
Responsibilities will include:
· Help ensure that students are engaged in their studies and optimizing the resources available to them;
· Monitor student progression to ensure that students in academic jeopardy are identified and contacted. Work with team and faculty to improve grades of struggling students;
· Generate low performance reports to identify students in academic risk, initiating contact to all students on these lists;
· Place students on success plans, connect them with the tutoring centre, and otherwise assist their academic progression;
· Work closely with student representatives to ensure cohesive communication between the student success department and all students;
· Ensure that students are engaged with the LMS (Moodle); identify gaps and trends in order to recommend possible areas of improvement to individual faculty;
· Work with the student services department and faculty to strive for consistency and high-standards of delivery whether on-line or in-person;
· Help review, organize, and follow up on survey results, student feedback, and more;
· Constantly strive to improve student satisfaction and the quality of learning, campus experience, and job preparedness;
· Coordinate incoming emails and feedback from students and student representatives to the department, ensuring that the appropriate personnel are notified and that appropriate feedback is provided;
· Liaise within the department in order to ensure efficiency with communication and priority setting;
· Coordinate Student Focus Groups, Tutoring sessions, and more;
· Help promote a strong sense of Quality Assurance, taking active steps in following the QA standards set forth by the College;
· Reinforce an organizational culture that understands the challenges and barriers to success that international students face and manages a team that demonstrates on a daily basis empathy, positive reinforcement, cultural understanding and a commitment to student success.
· Understand that some overtime, evenings and weekends may be required to ensure our students receive an outstanding education;

Requirements:
1) 3 years or more of experience at an academic administrator’s level working in a post-secondary institution;
2) A Bachelor’s Degree;
3) Excellent communication skills; Emotional Intelligence to enable positive motivation while setting high standards and expectation from the team: teamwork is critical!;
4) Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
5) Strong analytic skills, with experience using Excel and other software a definite asset;
6) Be able to set priorities, strategic goals and achieve them within the agreed upon timeline;
7) Experience with innovative teaching/learning strategies;
8) Understanding of international student needs and issues;
9) Knowledge of Moodle an asset;
10) A valid driver’s license;
11) Police Record Check and Vulnerable Record Check;
