Purpose of the post

To support the personalisation and community service in the provision of support functions within the Together Trust, including the Special Educational Needs & Disability Information Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS)

About the role

We’re looking for an organised individual to be our SENDIASS co-ordinator. You will be managing enquiries to the service, taking detailed notes from families/young people, providing information and advice, signposting families/young people to relevant information and organisations, escalating cases within the service, liaising with the local authority, schools and other professionals as required. Report on a range of factors related to the business as it stands now and grows in the future; keep, maintain and update records for statutory contracts.

About you

Education/Qualification

  • Educated to minimum A Level and/or NVQ Level 3

  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills

    • Leadership

  • Assist in the planning and organisation of the work of others

  • Deal sensitively with people and help to resolveconflicts

  • Seek advice and support when necessary

    • Knowledge, Experience & Understanding

  • Experience and understanding of SEND legislation and the impact of the Children & Families Act 2014

  • Experience of working with families requiring support for their children who have special educational needs

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other IT systems including databases and spread sheets

  • Ability to work independently demonstrating initiative and to be proactive

  • To be an effective and supportive team member

  • Capability to work in an organised and methodical manner

  • Ability to develop and maintain efficient record keeping systems

  • Ability to produce accurate records and reports as required

  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences, including other employees within the Together Trust, parents, Local Authorities and other professionals

  • Ability to identify work priorities and manage own workload to meet deadlines

  • Ability to show sensitivity and objectively in dealing with confidential issues
