JOB SUMMARY:
The Finance Manager, ANZ manages a complex matrix of financial touchpoints, stakeholders and data sources to validate and synchronize Tilray ANZ’s and the NCCs’ financials and ensures accuracy and consistency, supporting the achievement of the Company’s financial goals. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting activities. The incumbent may also be assigned analysis in support of the annual budget process, expense or balance sheet forecasts, statistical reporting, process efficiencies, optimizations and analyses of results.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as financial business partner to ANZ sales director and NCC as well as for senior leadership requests or financial and analytics project work; provides financial analyses, forecasts and actuals reporting for management.
- Leads all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting activities in a timely and accurate manner; collaborates with Global Controller
- Implements and manages internal controls with respect to financial policies, processes and procedures of general accounting operations
- Establishes and maintains accurate reporting of inventory, product costs, margins and similar management reports for the ANZ market and NCC
- Supports the implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of Xero – the ERP system
- Develops and maintains tracking systems for labour costs and overhead spending and cost analysis tools to understand efficiencies
- Prepares annual budgets, lending technical and analytical expertise for the development of labor efficiencies, rates, overhead and raw materials
- Performs financial analysis of sales and new business opportunities, including development of ROI for these activities in order to guide decision making
- Supports ANZ commercial team and NCC with business performance assessment and business trends analysis
- Resource for multifunctional business leaders for day-to-day decision support, resolving accounting or reporting system issues
- Assessment and ongoing financial and analytical support for customer/third party/ or distributor agreements
- Coordination of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial performance and forecast review process with regional finance teams, as appropriate
- Reviews the work of and provide leadership and support to the Assistant Accountant
- Reviews the cash management process including reconciliations and weekly forecasting
- Provides strong leadership and communication during the reporting and planning cycles, allowing enough time for value added analysis and decision making
- Oversees operational activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll administration for both ANZ and NCC
- Monitors and analyzes accounting data and manages the production of accurate financial reports
- Reviews the completion of ANZ and NCC’s local statutory financial statements in compliance with Australian Accounting Standards Boards (in addition to the financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP)
- Reviews the completion of transfer pricing documentation, year end tax provision and consolidated corporate income tax return in compliance with Australian tax laws and regulations for local tax submission
- Prepares ANZ and NCC’s quarterly business activity statements (BAS), quarterly consolidated activity statements (CAS) and monthly payroll tax for local tax submission
- Prepares, compiles and reviews of fringe benefits tax return for local tax submission
- Liaison with external accountants ensuring local accounting and tax compliance on various matters (ESS, TP requirements, payroll tax, GST, ETP) for both ANZ and NCC.
- Keeps abreast of federal and state developments, laws and policies that may affect the financial operations of the organisation
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance /Accounting or related field
- Accounting designation (CPA/CMA) or working towards it
- 5+ years financial analysis & reporting experience with some experience supporting commercial business partners preferably in a pharmaceutical company or consumer goods environment
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, ability to develop innovative and flexible analysis for management review
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of different accounting, financial and analytical techniques
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, balance multiple priorities and respect deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to communicate effectively at multiple levels of the organization
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, strong proficiency in Word and PowerPoint
- ERP experience with demonstrated knowledge of the capabilities of transaction and reporting systems
