JOB DESCRIPTION

The Program Director and Student Success Coach will work closely with both Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and the National Black Talent Bank (NBTB) staff to develop and implement a comprehensive workplace success training program to develop a cadre of highly motivated students who embody and demonstrate the knowledge and skills sought by TMCF’s NBTB corporate partners. The Program Director and Student Success Coach will develop and implement internal and external sourcing and workplace preparation strategies that lead to the development of a quality work ready pool of candidates who meet the hiring protocols of NBTB corporate partners. The ideal candidate for this position should have a thorough understanding of the science and practice of leadership development and professional coaching, client management, strong project management skills and extensive knowledge of corporate hiring needs and practices – as well as experience working with African-American youth.

REPORTING TO: NBTB Executive Director

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The Program Director and Student Success Coach (PMSC) is expected to:

• Engage virtually with select high schools and community organizations to identify, recruit, interview and select students to participate in the NBTB program. This position will be responsible for creatively working with local/national NBTB schools and organizations and remotely delivering a target number of candidates
• Successfully engage and complete the Strengths Coaching Course offered through Gallup. Coach, and develop talent through various efforts including workplace success coaching, resume review, mock interviews, group and individual learning sessions, etc., which may be exclusive to specific industries.
• Deliver workshops and webinars face-to-face and virtually in an engaging environment
• Create and deliver workshops and mentoring for NBTB participants through their initial 90 days on the job, to ensure successful workplace retention. Prepare students for Phase II of the program, which is career and educational plan development.
• Expand our community and educational efforts by virtually engaging key staff and administrators at assigned areas
• Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in working with students, high school personnel, and community partners and corporate executives.
• Impeccable integrity and a commitment to the highest ethical standards
• Other duties as required

Additional Expectations:

• This role operates as a remote telecommuting position. Working from home requires a high degree of discipline. The Program Director and Student Success Coach is expected to be just as productive as he/she would be in the office during TMCF core working hours, should be readily accessible to fellow team members and supervisors, and is required to make themselves available to participate in calls and meetings as circumstances necessitate.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Proven ability to create and execute talent development strategies
• Experience in understanding pedagogy and learning styles and implementing and delivering training programs to young people.
• Exceptional knowledge of industry hiring standards and needs, especially of NBTB’s corporate and agency partners
• Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, clients, alumni, senior staff, corporate and nonprofit executives
• Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and handle changing priorities with exceptional proven time management skills
• Must be fluent in MS Office Suite for Mac including PowerPoint and Excel
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Extremely perceptive, who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels
• Strong business acumen and ability to manage budgets
• Committed to learning with the ability to think strategically and analytically
• Able to work independently and manage projects autonomously, with little or no daily supervision
• Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends is required
• Travel required – 20-30%
