Job Title-  Section Engineer(Marine /Coastal Bias)

Salary- £45000-£50000

Location- Avonmouth (Bristol)

Summary

Thorn Baker is pleased to be working with one of the country’s biggest and busiest civil engineering main contractors to recruit a Section Engineer to work on the marine/offshore section of the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station in Somerset. 

The successful candidate could be a fully-fledged, experienced Section Engineer or a Site Engineer ready to take that step up into the more senior position.

As Section Engineer you will:

• Produce Method Statements and Risk Assessments 
• Produce and Review Inspection and Test Plans 
• Ensure correct and timely implementation of supplier and contractor Inspection and Test Plans
• Prepare and raise Supplier and Contractor Scope documents and instructions, following up progress to ensure timely implementation
• Plan and Coordinate the Marine Works with support by the Marine Operations Team
• Mentor less experienced staff, including delegating responsibilities
• Organise, Chair and Record regular meetings with Suppliers, Contractors and Client

Thorn Baker’s client is looking for someone with:

• Experience in civil engineering, Marine construction or offshore industries 
• Strong Knowledge of construction processes in one or more of the following areas: Dredging, Rock placement, Offshore lifting including engineered or complex lifts, large diameter drilling and marine piling
• Relevant Engineering Degree (Civil, Mechanical or Coastal)
• The ability to identify issues on drawings and suggest construction solutions.
• Experience in dealing with Marine Licencing or Licensable Activities
