About the role

Thiess is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Finance Managers for our brand-new project in the Bowen Basin – Olive Downs.

We were recently awarded a five contract to deliver full service mining operations, including mine planning overburden removal, drill and blast, load and haul, water management and rehabilitation as well as construction of the mine infrastructure.

Olive downs is a greenfield project located 40 kilometres South-west of Moranbah and is due to commence mining operations in early 2023.

You will have the opportunity to join a new workforce with a focus on developing a strong performance culture – a culture values everyone’s contribution equally.

This is a hands-on role where you will lead a small team of accounting and administration staff in the execution of your deliverables. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

Manage the Finance and Administration functions of the site

Report the financial position of the project (both actual and forecast) in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with accounting standards and group accounting policies

Demonstration safety leadership

Lead the administration team to ensure finance/administration processes are followed

Liaise with the client to ensure progress claims are lodged, certified and paid in accordance with contract requirements

Undertake monthly cost reviews with all project functional managers.

Manage finance and administration systems in order to meet project requirements

Lead, coach and develop administration team members by setting clear expectations, monitoring performance and mentoring

About you

8+ years leadership experience in finance and administration functions

Bachelor of Commerce with Accounting major

Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA)

Established experience working in a mining or heavy industry environment
