About You

You will be a hands-on technologist, capable of working within a team to help identify and develop growth and incubation opportunities. You will be an integral part of our drive towards collaboration, creativity and innovation.

You will work closely with incubation and technology teams to ensure that proposed technical solutions align with objectives and meet our growth mission.

You’ll be working in a fast paced, multi-stakeholder environment, with the ability to collaborate with those around you to help deliver effective business outcomes.

You will need to be comfortable working within a team on multiple projects and should be able to handle some levels of ambiguity.

What you’ll do

• Work as part of a team of software engineers, with a willingness engage with other teams to manage dependencies and resolve impediments
• Work on proof of concepts or technical prototypes to validate or prove out new ideas with a view to turn these into MVP products
• Promote and pro-actively facilitate innovation, by investigating new tools, technologies and methodologies
• Design and develop software following best practice, assist with deployments and providing operational support
• Work closely with the product strategists and senior engineers to identify suitable technical solutions for various initiatives and projects
• Write, maintain and document unit and integration tests, and write up new and modified functionality
• Assist with the delivery of non-functional requirements such as Extensibility, Reusability, Performance, Scalability and Security
• Compile technical documentation and assist with handing over MVP products to product development teams in other business units
• Provide and receive feedback via code reviews, retrospectives and help out removing technical blockers affecting other team members
• Collaborate with Architecture and Engineering Teams across the organisation to assist with implementing development standards and best practice
• Use shared infrastructure, frameworks, services and applications to reduce cost and improve information flow
• Be willing to actively participate and present project findings in workshops, learning labs and hackathons

What you’ll bring

• Demonstrated back-end and/or strong front-end skills, displaying curiosity to learn new languages/frameworks
• Willingness to experiment and try out new technologies to see whether they are fit for purpose
• Good understanding of what quality code means and solid understanding web-based applications
• Ability to perform basic of system administration tasks, with an understanding of using a CI/CD approach to work with an emphasis on Devops
• Good communication ability with demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and explain concepts to colleagues with varying levels of technical understanding
• Ability to help implement appropriate technical standards to meet business requirements
• An agile approach to development, and a good understanding of lean and agile
• Knowledge of commonly used testing practices (unit, component, and EE testing)
• Comfortable with some levels of ambiguity and willing to take principled bets on new technology
• A positive growth mindset, with a willingness to do knowledge sharing and creativity while problem-solving with others
• A collaborative, respectful attitude, displaying emotional intelligence and empathy
