The Walman Optical Company Hiring for Vice President / General Manager of Ultra Optics Full Time

Ultra Optics, a division of The Walman Optical Company, is currently seeking a Vice President (VP)/General Manager (GM). Ultra Optics is the industry leader in the manufacturing and the development of backside hard coating equipment and lacquers. Ultra Optics equipment and coatings support the successful surfacing of optical lenses.

Job Summary

The VP/GM of Ultra Optics will plan, direct, and manage the division, ensure successful business operations, drive sales growth and promote solutions to meet the unique needs of optical surfacing laboratories. The position has full P&L responsibility, develops and implements business strategies; oversee sales, marketing, operations, customer service, technical support and product development.

Position Responsibilities

• Responsible for creating and developing a successful vision and business execution for the division including strategic and tactical plans for business growth and development. Ensure strategic growth and operational success, create plans and adjust to changing market needs and dynamics.
• Develop, implement and execute strategies to improve and enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, quality, creativity, safety and overall performance. Review and ensure performance against operating plans and standards; effectively manage P&L, budget spending and labor expenses; establish sales goals and promote achievement of goals.
• Lead and manage leaders/staff for the division. Provide coaching and leadership to support successful performance. Identify training needs, initiate sales and staff orientation/development, and effectively manage performance. Maintain appropriate communication and keep employees informed as to company/ department plans and progress.
• Direct, manage and execute new business development opportunities, establish key strategic relationships to maintain and expand opportunities, understand market dynamics and respond to meet customer needs. Lead, coach and motivate staff to do the same.
• Ensure overall sales growth and development within the division. Drive and support success of machine development, chemistry development, distribution, sales and product support.
• Ensures compliance and safety within area of responsibility. Make and implement recommendations for improving effectiveness of policies and procedures.
• As a Walman Executive, develop and implement company strategies, operational policies and programs that guide division and organizational competitive position and profitability. Accountable for presentation of monthly operational performance and information to President/CEO and others as requested

Experience/Qualifications

• Bachelor s Degree in Business/Marketing, Engineering or related; MBA preferred
• 10-15 leadership experience managing P&L and/or a business unit; executive leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Must possess strategic planning, development and execution skills, excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• In-depth knowledge of sales, marketing, distribution and project planning.
• Ability to design and execute business strategies to address efficiency, quality and growth targets. Demonstrated track record in effective customer communication.
• Strong knowledge/expertise of medical devices, business and/or budgeting.
• Experience using six sigma, Kaizen and/or process improvement is desirable.
• Must be a problem solver, decisive and results orientated with an ability to lead and motivate team members to achieve results.
