The Department of Physics and Astronomy has around 80 academic staff and a student body of approximately 1,500 (UG, PGT, PGR), with future growth predicted at an undergraduate level. The needs of these students are diverse and student survey results (NSS) highlight very different issues affecting different courses. Enhancing the student experience lies at the heart of the Teaching, Learning and the Student Experience strategy. The next few years represent an exciting and challenging, time for the Department in this area. Rising student expectations, the need for innovative teaching and learning methods, are just a number of major priorities as we look forward.
The Department seeks the appointment of a Student Experience Administrator to support and help develop our future strategy and underpinning operation: looking holistically at all factors affecting the student experience; engaging closely with the student body and staff body; and making recommendations for change to senior academic and PS managers. The post-holder will be a key player in the areas of Welcome Week, Graduation, Inductions and School events, the PASS Scheme, the Placements scheme, Student Surveys, Well-being and pastoral care.
Under the direction of the Student Experience Manager for the School, the Student Experience Administrator will help to deliver an outstanding student experience which meets the learning and personal needs of our undergraduate and postgraduate students. You will be expected to have a deep understanding of student matters to ensure that the student voice is heard.
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
