Position Overview

The Head of People, Culture, & Community is responsible for leading the strategy, development, implementation, and support of people programs in key culture and engagement areas across the organization within the available budgets.

This position will oversee efforts to ensure staff, volunteers, and our extended cultural partners in the community experience a sense of belonging.

Direct focus and supervision will include inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility (IDEA), employee experience, professional development training, and compensation strategy.

This full-time, exempt position s directly to the CEO and oversees People Operations, culture work, and the Community function at The Tech Interactive.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the plans for people and community strategies across those functions, including talent acquisition and management, learning and development, IDEA, volunteer programming, and community relationships.
• Advise CEO and leadership team on issues related to IDEA, including providing perspectives on how decisions might impact marginalized employees and overall culture.
• Serve as a point of contact and key advisor for our internal IDEA Action Committee. Work with the IDEA team and other staff to establish and support affinity groups and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) when appropriate.
• Develop and implement processes that create an avenue for regular assessments of the staff experience and can track results and progress over time.

Evaluate results and provide guidance to leadership on success areas and areas that create an opportunity for change.

• Create and implement equitable, people-focused initiatives and practices to ensure a positive employee and volunteer experience, particularly around issues related to diversity and equity.
• Evaluate and recommend equitable compensation strategy that includes opportunities for job review at either the manager’s or employee’s request.

Oversee People Operations implementation.

• Create and lead overall institutional professional growth and career ladder initiatives. Supervise the Learning Management Program, develop in-house training programs, and identify outside partners to ensure success.
• Oversee employee relations and management coaching to ensure alignment of management practices that reflect the organization’s goals, with a specific focus on cultural concerns.
• Complete additional related tasks or duties as assigned by the CEO or Chief of Staff.

Qualifications

• 8+ years progressive work experience in the HR or related field with significant recent experience with DEI work.
• Proven ability to foster change in an organization with understanding and experience.
• Ability to develop best practices to build an inclusive and engaged environment.
• Cultural understanding and sensitivity with a lens towards racial, gender, and generational equity.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills. Ability to deal with conflict effectively, to manage difficult situations confidently and calmly, and to coach people managers to do the same.
• Creative and resourceful thinker with the ability to find solutions by thinking beyond the current systems and approaches.

Ability to recognize the impact of decisions and actions on the entire organization.

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to partner with and influence a wide range of stakeholders with varied communication styles.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to plan and effectively manage a wide variety of programs and projects.

Working Conditions and Schedule

This is an onsite position with the possibility of flexibility for working some days at an alternative work location. Flexibility will vary depending on the needs of the job.

Compensation : $156,000 – $173,000 per year, based on experience and background.
