About this Position!

The primary purpose of this position is to be trained in the estimating, design and detailing of wall frames, roof trusses and floors for new homes.

This will involve things like;

• working at a computer for most of the day and interacting with your teammates in the Design Team and Production Team as well as;
• learning how to use design software [PrydaBuild and HSBCad] to prepare estimates [quotes] and to design and produce detail drawings of timber wall frames, roof trusses and floors that are then used by the Production Team;
• using your problem-solving skills to design jobs in a way that is economical and easy for production team to build;
• preparing site installation drawings for the Onsite Team.

Key to your success in this position will be your ability to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and concentration. This will involve things like;

• designing and detailing jobs with a high level of accuracy;
• maintaining a high level of concentration throughout your working day;
• learning how to read architectural drawings and engineering drawings, to take in all there finer detail and to apply this detail correctly in your design work;
• writing emails to customers;
• taking care with the quality and presentation of your work.

Full on the job training and support will be provided and overtime you will get to know your job and the workings of the business very well!

This role is perfectly suited to someone who has excellent attention to details and loves working on computers. A developing interest in the building and construction industry will also be well regarded, same too the ability to work well in a cooperative and busy work environment.

Additional Selection Criteria includes;

• Good verbal communication skills;
• Confident technology skills youll know your way around common software packages and learn new software easily;
• An ability to think on your feet, multitask and problem solve; and,
• Sound numeracy and literacy skills.

Previous experience using AutoCAD or another design software package will be well regarded, however is not essential.
