I get asked about ML all the time, and for good reason. Artificial Intelligence is still in its relative infancy.

Very few companies have 20+ people in their Machine Learning team. Frankly, most companies (certainly in Australia) are still grappling with what ML even is but rest assured -not here.

The ML team are continually being deployed across a range of projects within one of Australias largest guardians of first party data and eCommerce environments.

The team has a culture of its own, encapsulated by a thirst to do things better, underpinned by a global software engineering ethos.

They add real value to the bottom line of key stakeholders and are highly respected internally.

You’d get to work on feature development for an in-house built Machine Learning platform that has been tried and tested.

As an ML specialist youll slot into squads on a project basis, where youll work closely with Data Scientists, Product Managers, other Software and Cloud Engineers. A team orientated approach to your work is critical as is the necessary ability to explain complex concepts in plain English.

80% of your time will be spent on Delivery. 10% will be yours to spend on harnessing your craft and education, and the remaining 10% is allocated for working with the ML team on internal POC development / tooling.

Mentoring more junior Engineers is also expected of you, and of course you can expect to be mentored by senior peers.

When hiring Engineers, the team of leads look for strong core software engineering skills harnessed in commercial product environments.

An appreciation for computer science fundamentals, and mastery of the below must have criteria is what theyll be looking for in your CV:

Technical must haves:

• Python
• SQL
• Linux
• Cloud

Nice to haves includes:

• Kubernetes / Kubeflow
• ML Ops/ Pipeline experience
• GCP
