Our client is a leading retailer with a number of locations across Victoria, and they know their people, their offering and their customers are their defining point of difference. The next couple of years is gearing up to be incredibly exciting as they embark on some transformational projects that will see them significantly investing in their team, the customer journey and technology. In line with this, and with an enviable internal culture, supportive management and a bright future, they now require a skilled IT Support Officer (Helpdesk) to join the team, on a full time basis, to be based in their Geelong office.
About the Opportunity:
As an IT Support Officer (Helpdesk), youll monitor and assist with maintaining network and systems security and deploy and maintain end user devices and software. Working with a team, youll have the opportunity to learn many different skills in cloud, infrastructure, networking, security, systems administration and software development. Also assisting with IT improvement projects, this is not your ordinary support role. This position will provide you with a strong skill set across a broad range of technology where youll get exposure across the entire business and grow skills well beyond that of standard support duties. Your career progression will look less like climbing a ladder and more like a continuous flow of exciting, meaningful opportunities that facilitate personal development and technical mastery. You’ll learn the retail system technology, systems, infrastructure, software and associated business processes and be able to provide high quality support to end users. Logging and resolving inquiries made to the help desk and keeping track of response times and outcomes, you’ll aim to reduce impacts to the retail network, youll triage issues and manage resolutions effectively and efficiently in line with service level targets via a ticketing system, phone or Microsoft Teams, escalating issues as required internally or externally. Monitoring internal system incident tools to ensure availability of systems and data, youll also continually improve levels and quality of support by developing knowledge base articles, improving and implementing processes and enabling automation through tools.
About You:
With proven and prior experience in a similar role (ideally within a retail business, using a ticketing system and with POS knowledge, or similar), youll enjoy troubleshooting and problem solving and be accustomed to working within a diverse and busy IT helpdesk environment. A consummate communicator, skilled in communicating with a range of key stakeholders, from front line staff to C-level executives, you’re respectful of others and have a strong focus on customer service and quality. With sound knowledge and experience supporting Windows desktop operating systems, youll be skilled in building and configuring Windows based PCs, laptops and NUCs and youll have a solid understanding of productivity tools in Office 365. With Unix operating experience, you’re comfortable with CLIs, and are able to demonstrate a basic understanding of TCP/ IP networking (further experience with PowerShell, SQL or other scripting languages would be ideal). With a high level of systems and process acumen, you’re team oriented, have an intelligent and energetic approach to tasks and a can do attitude. Forward thinking and able to work well independently, youll have strong organisational and time management skills and can multitask effectively. With strong attention to detail, youll be action oriented, a self starter and able to make sound decisions. Proactive and able to get things done, youll also be reliable and flexible. Innately curious, you’re enthusiastic, keen to learn about new platforms and technologies, and have a continuous improvement mindset. Ideally complemented by tertiary studies in a related discipline or similar, any experience, exposure to or skills in cybersecurity or understanding cybersecurity standards would also be highly regarded. Point of sale hardware and software experience and support skills are desirable.
