Tasmanian Independent Retailers (TIR) is the representative organisation for independent supermarket retailers trading under the advertised retail banners of IGA and IGA X-press. TIR also owns Island Fresh Produce (IFP) who is one of Tasmania’s leading fresh fruit and produce distribution outlets, plus operates within the retail industry with Brighton IGA supermarket. An exciting opportunity exists to join TIR operations for an Information Technology (IT) Specialist who will manage and continue to develop our internal IT requirements across all of our operations. This is a permanent full time position reporting directly to the CEO, and working closely with the executive team, employees, and our IGA member / retailer network.

The primary purpose of this role is to equip TIR with the hardware and software solutions, systems and support that will ensure the efficient operations of the business, and consistent with our strategic requirements, whilst also supporting our IGA Member & Independent Retailer Network with host management and other IT advice as required.

Accountabilities are to:

• Respond to requests and resolving problems in a timely manner,
• Develop and oversee IT policies and procedures consistent with best practice,
• Train TIR staff on the use of relevant systems and set up appropriate training programs,
• Maintaining and updating fit for purpose IT infrastructure to support greater efficiencies and cost savings,
• Installation of hardware and software solutions based on business needs and requirements, within budget constraints
• Work collaboratively across the business to support delivery of TIRs strategic projects
• Support functionality of TIRs website and member portal
• Identify and mitigate risks within IT platforms including cyber security including regular reporting to board
• Assist our IGA member & independent retailer network with host management support and other IT advice as required,
• Advise our IGA member & independent network on identified risks within the IT network
• Liaise with external providers to assist members with their IT requirements as requested,
• Develop annual functional plan and budget aligned to the TIR strategy
• Deliver financial performance outcomes in line with budget expectations

The right applicant will need to:

• Tertiary level education in Computing, Business or related fields (minimum Diploma, or Degree)
• Proven experience in improving business processes and services through the design and implementation of information systems solutions across multiple technology platforms.
• Proven professional experience with Information Technology systems
• Ability to create and foster key stakeholder relationships.
• Ability and experience to train, coach, and mentor across all levels of personnel within the business operations;
• Be organised and focused with the ability to multi-task, and able to prioritise work output to meet deadline expectations;
• Have a friendly professional communication style both verbal and written that is respectful, positive, and adaptable with all levels of employees within the workforce.
