Our Client, a Federal Government Department located in Canberra is seeking an experienced Data Analyst with strong analystical and visualisation skills to help us bring their data to life. Seeking a self-motivated member with a pasion for data and being part of a team to build exciting new digital products. The role is with the Digital Team who are responsible for building front-end visualisations, interactive apps and other digital products.The Digital team works across the Commission with economists, data scientists and policy analysts to translate data insights into user-focussed digital products that help inform and educate both specialists and the general community about labour market and skills data.

Youll be joining a small, fast-moving and highly collaborative group of people which shares a supportive and inclusive culture.

The successful Data Analyst will be:

• Familiar with or able to quickly understand labour market and skills data from a range of sources and their inter-relationships;
• Confident in providing data insights, most likely to be presented through data visualisations or new interactive apps;
• Able to communicate your insights and processes (including both technical and non-technical information) effectively in verbal and written form;;
• Familiar with some viz tools (preferably R shiny or Power BI). Tableau or Qlik may also be helpful
• Able to work on multiple projects of varying complexity, timeframes and priorities across the organisation with various people, including senior executives, policy and data specialists;
• Able to extract, clean and manipulate data if needed and assess its quality or suitability for particular applications.
• Enjoy working in a team using agile delivery processes.

To be deemed suitable for this Data Anlayst opportunity, you will have:

• Proficiency in building front-end visualisations and dashboards using tools, preferably R Shiny and Power BI Tableau and/or Qlik knowledge useful;
• Experience in working within a cross-functional team on several digital projects at one time. Understanding of connections between back-end and front-end development of web interfaces, visualisations and dashboards useful;
• Ability to learn quickly, work to short deadlines and manage competing priorities of varying complexity and urgency;
• Understanding of data models, relational databases, operational databases, cloud databases and experience in drawing different data sources for producing visual outputs.

Desirable, but not essential criteria:

• Experience in utilising Agile methodology for product development or project management;
• Experience in using mapping software for developing interactive apps and/or visualisations;
• Experience working with public sector agencies, research or communication organisations.
