Administration Officer Byron Bay Preschool

Byron Bay Preschool is looking for an experienced Administration Officer for approx. 35 hours per week. The preschool consists of two centres, that deliver quality early childhood education. One centre is in the heart of bustling Byron Bay, the other nestled in the beautiful trees in Suffolk Park.

The Administration Officer is responsible for the efficient processing of the preschools financial and administrative tasks. She/he works with the Management Committee, the Preschool Director, the Educational Leaders, teachers and educators as required.

Reporting the Administration Officer reports to the Director.

Tasks include:

FINANCIAL CONTROL:

• Assist in the administration of Preschool finances and funding
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and budget
• Processing of accounts payable/receivable
• Monthly reconciliation of accounts
• BAS/IAS processing
• Payroll, including reviewing and interpreting industrial instruments and writing of work contracts
• Taxation and other ATO related tasks
• Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reporting
• Workers compensation tasks including annual audit

PEOPLE AND CULTURE:

• Protect children and their rights
• Attend staff meetings and management meetings as required
• Disseminate information regarding children to their relevant carers and relay information from families to Director and Educational Leaders.
• Effective communication, strong relationship skills and excellent customer service

ADMINISTRATION:

• Ensure effective and efficient administration of both centres.
• Ensure enrolment process and data base applications are up to date
• Software implementation, software maintenance, website maintenance
• Preparation for annual audit
• AGM preparation & registration of elected Management Committee with ACECQA
• Enrolments (in collaboration with the director)
• Without direct supervision undertake duties in compliance with current practices, policy of Byron Bay Preschool and specific centre procedures
• Contribute to work health and safety requirements

Selection Criteria:

• Experience in using Microsoft Office
• Demonstrated organisational skills
• Ability to work both in a team and without direct supervision
• Experience with MYOB/Payroll
• Knowledge of ACNC reporting requirements
• Experience of preparation and maintenance of budget (with Director) as well preparation of accounts and maintenance of debtors ledger
• Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety legislation
• A combination of experience, education and training in administration or relevant workplace experience
• Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service and excellent relationship/communication skills
• Experience working in an Early Childhood Education and Care Setting
