POSITION SUMMARY
Sky Factory’s Sales & Marketing team is seeking a self starting, dynamic Business Development Manager who is equal parts: strategic thinker, skilled relationship builder, and a hands-on key account manager. The ideal candidate is a confident public speaker/presenter who welcomes regular domestic business travel as well as the occasional international trip.

Sky Factory is the leading designer and manufacturer of virtual skylights and windows in the world. Our multisensory illusions of nature are featured in top ranked healthcare networks, as well as commercial, corporate, and institutional environments. Based in Fairfield, Iowa, Sky Factory has a proven track record of quality craftsmanship sought the world over with projects ranging from Dallas and Des Moines to Dublin and Dubai.
● Frequent travel (30% to 50% of the time) will be required for business development activities, presentations and tradeshows.
● Daily presence in our Fairfield, Iowa office is preferred when not traveling, but open to a hybrid arrangement for the right candidate.
● Compensation includes: salary, company-wide quarterly profit sharing, company-wide bonuses, PTO, flexible hours, health insurance, and paid family leave.
Specific duties of the Business Development Manager include:
Business Development:
● Lead and execute sales strategies for all new domestic and Canadian accounts.
● Collaborate with Sales & Marketing teams to drive key accounts and identify new prospects in markets with the strongest potential (top healthcare networks, Veterans Administration (VA), architecture firms, etc.).
● Actively network with architects, medical professionals, and industry players to nurture and grow key accounts
● Develop and implement the annual Business Development Plan.
● Tailor marketing and sales presentations for key clients and prospects.
● Design and implement a key account and “partner” business development program with a focus on sales.
● Provide on-going lead nurturing follow up.
AIA/Continuing Education:
● Learn to present Sky Factory’s continuing education courses “The Restorative Impact of Perceived Open Space”, “Biophilic Illusions”, and “The Neurobiology of Biophilia & Spatial Cognition”.
● Schedule and present AIA/USGBC CEU courses to architectural firms in U.S & Canada metro areas, plus host International webinars.
Trade Shows:
● Represent SF at industry trade shows, conduct follow-up, and close on specific “high-level” trade show leads.
● Research and identify new trade show marketing opportunities.
● Setup/takedown trade show booths (2 – 6 hours); fit to lift 30 – 50 lbs. as needed.
Marketing:
● Collaborate with Management and Marketing Team to develop and implement the Annual Marketing Plan and Budget.
● Collaborate with the Marketing & Graphics Team to develop new marketing and sales materials as necessary.
● Work with Web Team to strategize/implement online marketing initiatives.
● Collaborate with the Virtual Product Presentation Team to support marketing projects and identify actionable client feedback.
General:
● Seek out client feedback and work with the Product Development and R&D teams to identify new products/product features and identify design trends.
● Leave your creative thinking cap on at all times to engender fresh marketing ideas and tactics.
Experience:
● At least 5 years of experience in healthcare/commercial interiors, architectural products or lighting/medical equipment sales or comparable industry experience
● Candidates with an established network of high level contacts in the commercial/healthcare or construction community are preferred
● Familiarity with long B2B sales cycles, managing multiple client stakeholders, and leading multi-pronged sales initiatives
● Excellent networking, written and oral presentation skills
● A background in healthcare design and architectural products, healthcare sales or commercial architecture is preferred, but not necessary.
