The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) is a diverse and energetic organisation that provides services to support the delivery of training, continuing professional development, and health policy and advocacy on behalf of more than 17,000 Fellows and 8,000 trainees, across Australia and New Zealand. The RACP offers 60 training pathways, which lead to the award of one of seven qualifications and allow for registration in 34 fields of specialty practice with the Medical Board of Australia, or nine vocational scopes of practice with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

The Role
As the Assistant Accountant, you will support the Financial Reporting Manager, Transaction Manager and Senior Financial Accountant whilst being responsible for:

• Performing month end duties e.g. posting General Journals, data entry etc.
• Balance Sheet General Ledger reconciliations.
• Assist in compilation and analysis of financial information to prepare financial statements for monthly and annual accounts.
• Ensure statutory compliance.
• Assist in financial reporting for the year end.
• Coordinate the provision of information to auditors.
• Assist with other ad hoc projects from time to time.
• Provide back-up for Fixed Assets and Banking.
• Cover Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable and relieve when required

Desired Skills and Experience
The Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will have:

• Accounting degree
• Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role
• Ability to meet strict deadlines
• Proficient in MS office product, especially MS Excel
• Accuracy and attention to detail is a must
• Experience dealing with senior management in a professional manner
• Reliable and punctual
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in Great Plains accounting system
• Ability to work as part of a team
