Rheo is on a mission to optimize urban logistics and consumption by creating a cloud for physical objects.

“Rheo’s business model proceeds from a patented, state-of-the-art modular network of robotic lockers that increases efficiency in the last fifty meters of urban deliveries and eliminates friction during final handovers. Our combination of software, hardware, and human operations presents numerous opportunities. Among those being pursued from the outset is the provision of affordable rentals: power tools, small appliances, electronics, sporting goods, and any other item that can fit into our lockers. As the network expands, a fleet of Rheo-designed micro-mobility devices will be made available.

Rheo is set to be established and launched in New York. The city’s existing infrastructure, high population density, and storied logistical challenges make it the ideal location to develop and test our ideas.

Currently, Rheo is operating in stealth mode, which means that our public-facing information is intentionally limited. We look forward to elaborating on our progress and vision during the interview process. While Rheo’s ambitious and far-reaching, decade-spanning vision will be our priority, we harbor aspirations for even greater expansion in the mid-term future. We aim to incorporate teams working on the founder’s ideas in the fields of film production, product development, fashion, architecture, poverty reduction and education. Crucially, while each division will contribute its unique expertise, we envision a symbiotic relationship where the output of one division will support and fulfill the needs of the others, fostering a culture of cross-pollination.

Requirements and Compensation

August to December 2023:

You’ll have the flexibility to work remotely for 20 hours per week (a total of 400 hours). In return, we offer a significant equity stake, with additional equity increments that reflect your level of professional experience.

January 2024:

A salary of $125,000 per annum will commence, and you’ll be required to relocate to New York City to work full-time in person.

Responsibilities

Take the lead on designing the Rheo system, using PLCs and actuator electronics.

Integrate sensors and actuators into the Rheo system’s mechanical elements.

Collaborate with software engineers to ensure seamless integration of physical and digital systems.

Participate in shaping the company culture and vision.

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Automation, or a related field.

Demonstrated experience in robotics, mechanical design, and electromechanical systems.

Deep understanding of electrical circuits and systems, particularly as they relate to actuator control.

Experience with PLC programming.

Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot control systems.

Skills

Fluency in spoken and written English.

Excellent problem-solving abilities.

Ability to self-motivate initially and work efficiently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Enthusiastic team player.
