Lead Tunnelling Design Engineer – London – Permanent

Excellent opportunity to join a Design consultancy supporting a number of projects, including HS2 and the Lower Thames crossing

Location: – Central London

Salary: – £62,000 – £68,000 basic

Role description

This position is sat within a Design engineering team focused on Civil Engineering design in Tunnelling, Utilities, Highways and temporary works.

As a lead for the Tunnelling team, you will have more junior engineers to support while reporting to the Head of Engineering. Your role is to understand all aspects of tunnelling design, including static analysis, segment design, tunnel lining dimensioning (TBM and SCL), ground improvement, face support etc. Contributing to the design of large-scale infrastructure projects in the UK for both tender and live projects, assisting in the development of conceptual design and producing engineering details in accordance with project requirements.

This needs technical expertise across tunnelling but with a focus on TBM as a primary but with an excellent understanding of geotechnics, concept design, detail design and construction support.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a similar subject
• Previous Tunnelling design experience with TBM led projects.
