Purpose of Your Job Position:

The primary purpose of this job position is to organize and schedule appropriate nursing department coverage, including the master schedule, daily schedule and scheduling replacements for shifts.

Duties:

The Staffing Coordinator generates, manages and updates master schedules while making adjustments as needed according to budgetary constraints, census fluctuations, call-ins, and pre-planned leaves of absence. Additional duties include:

• Reviewing requests for paid time off (PTO), vacation, maternity leave, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and unpaid leaves of absence
• Fulfilling staffing vacancies in advance to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts
• Keeping meticulous attendance records and assisting with the progressive disciplinary process if staff members accrue excessive absences and/or late arrivals.
• Communicating with unit managers, the director of nursing and administrator regarding floor orientation scheduling for newly hired employees in the nursing department.
• Checking time clock punch records against master schedules and noting the appropriate changes
• Enter missed punch forms for time & attendance as well as missed meal periods daily
• Utilizing computer software to prepare, change and update the master schedule
• Coordinate schedule and staffing levels for the nursing department.
• Assist DSD with Interviewing CNA’ candidates for open positions.
• Assist DSD with Day 1 of Orientation.
• Prepare Orientation Packets.
• Prepare and file New Hire files.
• Conduct reference checks, background checks and other pre hire screening as needed.
• Track continuing educational programs for nursing staff.
• Track Skills/Competency Checklists for nursing staff.
• Create a floor orientation schedule for new nursing staff.
• Complete daily prior day Actual NHPPD and current day Scheduled NHPPD s and post by 8:00am daily for all nursing hours.
• Work with payroll to manage time clock errors.
• Meet with DSD, DON &Administrator daily to review staffing, attendance and open positions.
• Perform additional tasks as needed.

Educational Requirements:

• Current CNA or LVN license/certification preferred.
• 2+ years experience in a SNF setting required.
• 2+ years of prior staffing/scheduling experience required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and management.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Excellent customer service / people skills.

Staff Development:

• Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational classes to maintain current certification as a Nursing Assistant.
• Attend and participate in scheduled orientation programs and activities.
• Attend and participate in annual OSHA and CDC in-service training programs for hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens standard.
• Attend and participate in advance directive in-service training programs as scheduled.

The role will heavily require the following:

• Knowledge of MS Excel
• Knowledge of NHPPD staffing requirements
• Ability to handle last minute changes in schedule
• Flexible to work OT (Only as necessary)
• Will assist with other tasks as necessary such as audit of work hours, assist with DSD orientation

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
