As a Tax Associate at our firm, you will review and prepare Corporate, Partnership, Trust, and Individual tax returns as well as the corresponding workpapers that support those tax returns. You will also prepare tax estimates for clients and year-end proformas as directed by senior staff.

Salary Range: $55,000 – $70,000
Plus a Production Bonus based on a % of revenue you work on

Areas of Responsibility

• Prepare tax returns, estimates, and proformas on a timely and accurate basis
• Prepare workpapers that support the tax return
• Communicate with clients on open items
• Develop tax technical skills to add more value to the firm and its clients

Activity Summary
Prepare deliverables timely and accurately, develop technical skills:

• Prepare tax returns as assigned along with related workpapers
• Clear software diagnostics prior to sending a deliverable for review
• Request and implement feedback from more senior staff
• Identify ways that you can work more efficiently while maintaining quality levels
• Attend all lunch-and-learns and complete training as designated by your manager
• Increase technical knowledge by performing research and providing citations for your opinions or tax positions

Maintain Client satisfaction:

• Request open items from clients and be responsive to their communications/emails (24-48 hour turnaround time); ensure all client promises are timely met
• Shadow senior staff on tax return debrief calls to learn how they educate clients on tax returns and tax positions
• Review client loyalty surveys; work with senior staff to brainstorm areas of improvement.
• Identify other services that will benefit the client; make recommendations known to senior staff
• Work with clients to resolve complaints or quality issues.

Identify opportunities to improve the company:

• Identify opportunities to improve information handoffs and collaboration
• Identify barriers and waste in our processes and work to remove them
• Identify training needs and request such trainings from senior staff

• Development of your technical skills

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in accounting from an accredited college or university
• 1.5+ years of preparing and reviewing 1040s, 1065s, and 1120-S tax returns
• Experience preparing Schedule E, Form 8825, Schedule L and M
• Experience calculating improvement basis for real estate acquisitions
• Experience preparing multiple state tax returns
• CPA or EA certification preferred
