Director of Finance / Analyst / Controller

THE PERFECT PETAL, founded in Denver Colorado in 1995, is known for creating smashing floral and brilliant wares for living in the Rocky Mountain Region, Vail Valley and Aspen. We are currently seeking a Director of Finance to provide management and oversight of all financial activities related to the everyday operations to support the company’s vision and goals. We work with dynamic creatives and have the most discerning clients in our industry and are enjoying significant growth. The Director fo Finance / Analyst / Controller will sit on the Leadership Team, guide decision making around all financial purchases, forecasting, dashboard reporting, financial visibility to the team, and budgeting. They will sit in our weekly Director level meetings and take ownership of the finance department, specifically, building and maintaining a dynamic financial forecast that provides the best path forward for the company. In addition to forecasting and controlling, key areas of oversight and ownership will be cash flow management, revenue recognition, decisions on hiring pricing, job profitability, and best industry practices. They will participate in a weekly cash flow meeting with ownership and will have accounting responsibilities of entering and classifying invoices in accounts payable, manage payroll weekly through a time keeping application and month end closing.
the Perfect Petal has 6000 sf of warehouse workspace in Denver and 3000 sf of brick and mortar retail space in the Highlands area of Denver. With a core team of 34, the company as a whole, encompasses a Retail Lifestyle store, a Retail Floral Studio, a robust Wedding Department and a Special Events Department all supported by an Operations Team.
We are searching for a Director of Finance / Analyst to work in harmony with our Sales and Operation Directors and ownership to drive the business to projected next levels.
The ideal candidate is a blend of analytical thinker, strategic planner and empathetic problem solver capable of communicating with invested leaders and their teams. The Perfect Petal utilizes EOS as its Organizational format.

Specific responsibilities

• Analyzes, verifies, tracks and reports on financial indicators (for example, accounts receivables, account coding and charging, cash flow, budgets, P&L, statistical data and reserves)
• Reports on results on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and/or annual basis.
• Supervise and assist with the production of financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Tracks and reports on statistical variances
• Plan and execute effective business operation strategies
• Develop, improve and issue timely monthly financial records for company leadership
• Reports discrepancies to Leadership Team
• Designs, develops and modifies systems and procedures to enhance departmental processing as needed.
• Responsible for maintaining proprietary databases including data integrity, timeliness of data input and accuracy of data.
• Conducts internal audits to ensure compliance to departmental policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
• Maintains compliance with various state, federal and industry standards and regulations.

Specific qualifications / skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA preferred
• Proven experience as director of finance or similar role
• In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices
• Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting
• Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (e.g. SAP)
• An analytical mind with a strategic ability
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
• BSc/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus
• CPA or other relevant qualification is a plus

Compensation
75k to 95k

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
