Position Summary

The MS/HS Math Teacher position is responsible for developing and maintaining positive classroom environments by nurturing the social and emotional health of all students by adhering to an exceptional high expectation for academic growth.

Prior experience working with children with dyslexia is a definite plus.

As long as you have your work done on time, you may have most Friday’s off.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares and delivers appropriate/meaningful lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitates active learning and nurtures social, emotional, and intellectual health of all students at varying grade levels; builds and maintains a reflective teaching practice

• Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures

• Instructs and monitors students in the use of learning materials and equipment

• Uses and integrates relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction

• Manages student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures

• Maintains discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school

• Provides appropriate feedback on work

• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies

• Maintains accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development

• Updates all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, school policies and regulations

• Prepares and generates timely required reports on students and activities

• Participates in department, school, and family meetings; formal and informal vertical and horizontal curriculum collaboration

• Routinely communicates relevant information to students, colleagues, administrators, colleagues, and appropriate family members through telephone and electronic methods; in-person and electronic conferences; informal and formal meetings

• Routinely assesses students’ needs and applies requirements to curriculum; works with school administrator to ensure that special accommodations are available and assigned as appropriate

• Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activities

• Prepares classroom for class activities in a timely manner

• Provides a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities

• Observes and evaluates student’s performance and development

• Assigns and grades class work, homework, tests, quizzes, and assignments

• Creates a safe and secure classroom environment

• Supports school initiatives and leadership teams

• Provides information by answering questions and requests in a friendly and professional manner

• Efficiently manages multiple projects as assigned

• Responds appropriately to sensitive information in a confidential manner

• Resolves challenges; communicates solutions and makes recommendations for changes

• Adheres to recordkeeping requirements to maintain accreditation as appropriate; responds appropriately to accreditation requirements

• Continues development of personal and professional skills and establishes and participates in industry and other professional networks and growth opportunities to ensure awareness of regulatory and other trends that may affect the school, business or direction of the schools’ initiatives, policies and programs

• All other projects and duties that promote the successful execution and/or completion of various projects whether or not specifically assigned

· At least 3 years’ of classroom teaching experience preferred

· Experience teaching special-needs and/or dyslexic children preferred

· Knowledge of brain-compatible curriculum, instruction, and assessment

· Strong time management, organization and communication skills; detail-oriented

· Compassionate disposition; willingness to become involved in student success

· Solid judgment, foresight, problem-solving, analytical and business acumen skills; strong attention to details

· Able to multitask effectively

· Excellent interpersonal and electronic communication skills; ability to determine best form of communication for varying situations

· Self-motivated with the ability to collaborate as a team member on a broad variety of projects

· Ability to work extended hours and various work schedules as needed including overtime and weekends

· Must adhere to required schedules and school policies and procedures

· Ability to speak, write, and follow instructions and read the English language

· Ability to demonstrate moral character, honesty, tact, fairness, patience, lack of prejudice and desire to help when dealing with people of varying social, cultural and economic backgrounds; creates and promotes a harmonious work environment

· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word; Excel and Google with the ability to develop creative methods to integrate technology into daily curriculum

Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher, in education, from an accredited university

• Texas Teacher Certificate or enrolled in an Alternative Certification Program or equivalent experience as determined by leadership

• Clean driving, drug screen and background records at all times

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,575.00 per year
