JOB SUMMARY:

This position leads Accounting’s General Ledger team for the Merit Distribution Group. Incumbent is responsible for leading month-end close activities and performing all general accounting duties associated with the integrity of the company’s financial systems. Leads three Staff Accountants.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage the month end close process for two U.S. private equity owned divisions conducting a total of $400 million in annual Revenue.
• Oversee the integrity and reconciliation processes for AP, AR, fixed assets and treasury management by overseeing three accounting resources and helping to complete work where there is a need for support.
• Develop internal controls and verification steps to ensure the financial accuracy and integrity of business processes and the month end process.
• Post inventory adjustments and fixed asset depreciation entries into general ledger accounts.
• Calculate, track, and process customer and vendor rebates. Maintain records.
• Review and analyze general ledger account balances. Identify problem areas and make recommendations.
• Oversee sales use tax entries in the General Ledger from the Avalara sales tax reporting system; running reports as needed for accuracy.
• Ensure monthly bank statements are reconciled to general ledger and resolve related problems.
• Create desk top level procedures and process narratives for current state processes with an eye towards opportunities for improvement.
• Support research analysis required for the annual audit process with outside CPA firm.
• Work with outside partners to provide tax reporting information.
• Analyze and report on the company’s cash position.
• Other projects as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or Finance is required.
• CPA not required but strongly preferred.
• 7-10 years accounting experience with a significant portion of experience in a supervisory role
• Knowledge of commonly used accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Knowledge of Avalara sales tax reporting system preferred
• Ability to effectively communicate with leadership and professionally interact with internal and external clients, as well as team members

ABOUT THE POSITION:

• Position requires incumbent to work on-premise.
• Qualified candidates would be considered for promotion to Assistant Controller within one year; and may be eligible for a Controller position within two years.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,840.00 – $110,648.00 per year
