Salary: Appointments are normally made at the starting salary, however comparable skills and experience will be considered. Future progression is based on annual performance review.

Duration of Contract: Fixed Term for 12 months (Maternity Cover)

Hours per week: 35 hours per week (Full Time)

Summary of Role

As Research Accountant, you will be required to assist in the provision of critical management information to Heads of Division and Research Team leaders on externally funded activities, and supporting them to adhere to key financial controls and processes in the administration of their awards.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate must have

Essential:

• Training for a CCAB qualification
• An interest in and commitment to accounting work within a scientific research environment
• Use of computer and accounting packages including Microsoft Office including intermediate / advanced Excel
• Ability to learn quickly
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
• Good written communication skills
• A confidence when dealing with difficult situations
• Ability to operate in a team environment
• Ability to organise their own workload, adapting to changing priorities
• Ability to work on own initiative

Desirable:

• Experience of management accounting in a research grant funding environment
• Part qualified in CCAB qualification
• A recognised higher education degree
• Experience from a similar or equivalent role(s)
• A working knowledge of Agresso
• Experience of the charity sector and/or the higher education sector
