The Ijaz Group is looking to hire an Accounting Manager for our growing Finance & Accounting Solutions practice in our Tysons, VA office, primarily serving clients in the nonprofit industry.

The Accounting Manager/Controller is responsible for the accuracy of client accounting systems and financial reporting. This position works with a team of internal accountants and senior accountants, liaises with auditors, and produces regular financial reports. Maintains the integrity of the accounting system, oversees all journal entries and development of accurate and time efficient accounting procedures.

General Duties & Responsibilities

The essential job duties/responsibilities of the position are included in but not limited to the information listed below:

• Manages monthly close, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and producing and distributing financial statements. Ensures monthly close happens in a timely manner
• Works with our client’s Development and Program staff to develop and maintain tools and processes for tracking, reporting, and reconciliation financial records and transactions.
• Track and monitor all restricted funding, ensuring accurate reporting to funders and budget to actual forecasting for client organizations.
• Partnering with the internal client accounting team to meet known and new needs, such as grant reporting or tracking, payroll tracking, reporting needs, and new payroll regulations.
• Maintain records of reports and documentation of procedures
• Prepares audit schedules, liaises with auditors, and prepares information for tax and registration requirements
• Assists in preparing information for the Form 990, charitable registrations and other tax returns as requested by clients.
• Assists and train Staff Accountants

Basic Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Incumbent must understand importance of accuracy and confidentiality in this position. Bachelor’s degree with a Major in Accounting will be very helpful. Superb organizational skills and proficiency in spreadsheet software/word processing are required.

Demonstrated proficiency in accounting principles and procedures is preferred, including accounts payable, payroll, or cash management. Knowledge of Sage Intacct accounting software is preferred. This position requires seven or more years of comparable and relevant accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.

• Supervisory experience
• Strong computer skills, with Sage Intacct experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business is required
• Detail oriented, excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
• Demonstrated professionalism and judgment with confidential information

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
